The GREAT ME Foundation

Dedicated to leading all of us to be our best, higher selves: our GREAT ME

As the late Lou Austin, author of The Little Me and the Great Me and other books, observed from years of life experience and spiritual reading, we each have two “Me’s”—our ego, or Little Me; and our divine self, or GREAT ME.

We humans were created to have free will.  At any moment we can choose to act as our Little Me or our GREAT ME. Our Little Me is individual and special, but only sees things from our selfish point of view.

Far better to have the kinder, broader view of our GREAT ME in the driver’s seat, to look out for the good of all.  Living life on a higher spiritual plane, we can stop fighting, stop polluting, and work out ways to cooperate and share.

But when the Little Me throws a tantrum in our head and yells, “It’s mine! I want it!”, how can we discipline ourselves to bypass that small-minded squawk and instead heed the voice of our GREAT ME?

There must be a way to remind ourselves, day in and day out. No matter how old or young we are.

There is! It’s as simple as breathing. When angry or afraid, STOP.  Blow out the Little Me, breathe in the GREAT ME.  It’s simple, but not easy, and it takes practice.
